The mild climate and many natural attractions attract tourists to the small village of Teberda all year round. The main natural area is the Teberda Nature Reserve. It will be of interest to different categories of visitors. At the entrance to the reserve there are aviaries with wild animals and a nature museum. Those who are not afraid of long walks will be offered eco-routes to lakes and waterfalls.

There are memorials and museums in the village itself. Of particular interest is the museum of a public figure, Prince Islam Krymshamkhalov. You can touch nature without going up the mountains. Teberda reserve

Natural protected area at the foot of the Caucasus Mountains. It is located within walking distance from the village of Teberda. Dozens of ecological paths to natural attractions have been laid through the reserve. Lakes, waterfalls, glaciers - everything that the nature of the Caucasus Mountains is famous for is in the Teberda Nature Reserve. It is possible to navigate along it only after issuing an administrative permit and receiving a route map.

Teberda river

The river, 60 km long, flows surrounded by dense coniferous forest in the highlands. The picturesque river looks spectacular against the background of the mountains; a walk along the river bed will give tourists a real pleasure. The Sukhum Military Road runs next to the river, the upper reaches of the river flows through a conservation area near the border with Abkhazia. The water in the river is clean, which is due to the absence of industrial enterprises on its banks.

Lake Kara-Kol

Small but picturesque lake. Its name means "Black Water" in translation from Turkic. The dark color of the lake water is due to the large amount of organic matter in its composition. The reservoir is 8-10 thousand years old. The depth reaches 7 meters. In summer, it warms up well, the water temperature reaches 20 degrees - this is the warmest lake in the Teberda nature reserve. It is forbidden to make fires and put up tents on the shore of the lake.

The central estate of the Teberdinsky nature reserve

The main idea of ​​the visit center in the Central Estate is to tell about the tasks and peculiarities of the protected area. The map in the visitor center informs visitors about the eco-routes laid out in the reserve and the rules of conduct on them. Here you can apply for a pass to the protected area and sign up for a guided tour. The Central Estate also includes the Museum of Nature and a complex of enclosures with wild animals.

Open-air cage complex of the Teberda nature reserve

Occupies an area of ​​8 hectares and is one of the most significant recreational facilities in the Caucasus. Wild animals live here in comfortable and spacious conditions close to their natural environment. In total, the complex is home to about 50 animals of twenty species. Wolves, deer, bears, yaks, lynxes, raccoon dogs - all of them are interesting to visitors. Animals included in the Red Book - bison live in the enclosures of the complex.

Sentin temple

Christian temple built in 965. Located in the spurs of a mountain range on the banks of the Teberda. The age of the temple is confirmed by the preserved construction inscription on the northern wall of the temple. Next to the temple there is another building unusual for the North Caucasus - a stone mausoleum of the 10th century. Representatives of the highest priestly order were buried in it. A large fresco complex has been preserved inside the temple.

Shumka waterfall

It is located at an altitude of 1523 meters on the territory of the Teberda nature reserve. The hiking trail leads to the foot of the waterfall, you can enjoy the free fall of water from a height of 15 meters from a close distance. The route to the waterfall is simple; it passes through a dense and beautiful forest. It takes no more than an hour to walk from Teberda to Shumka, the climb is only 175 meters. The trail is marked, it is impossible to get lost in the forest.

Baduk lakes

A cascade of three mountain lakes, 8 km from the village of Teberda. The picturesque lakes are one of the most visited natural attractions in the area. The water in the lake changes color depending on the time of day and weather - from purple to light turquoise. Fishing in the lake is prohibited, but you can swim. It should be borne in mind that the water in the high-mountainous Baduk lakes does not warm up above 10 degrees.

Muruja lakes

They are located in the Ullu-Muruju valley at an altitude of 2800 meters in the area of ​​the Teberda nature reserve. Most often, from the entire group of Muruja lakes, excursion groups go to the Black and Blue lakes. The names of the lakes are given by the color of the water in them. In Black Lake, the water becomes dark when clouds appear in the sky. From the lakes, mountain ranges are clearly visible, climbing which you can take spectacular photos of the entire group of picturesque lakes.

Jamagat Narzans

Natural springs of mineral water located in the beautiful Jamagat gorge. Walking and car excursions are organized to them. The route runs along the bed of a mountain river with magnificent views of the mountain. There are two mineral springs in the gorge, they are located 10 meters from each other. The water has low mineralization, the water temperature is about 6 degrees. Lake Epchig is located a few kilometers from the springs.

Mukhinskoe gorge

The tourist route along the gorge is 12 km away. There are different ways for tourists to overcome this path - on foot, on horses, bicycles, ATVs or in an off-road vehicle. There are no outstanding natural attractions on the way, you just need to enjoy the beautiful nature around and the silence of virgin forests. At the end of the route on Mount Lysaya, it is worth visiting the Alanian medieval settlement.

House-Museum of I.P. Krymshamkhalov

Located in a picturesque place near the Kara-Kel lake. The poet, artist and musician Krymshamkhalov built a guest house and himself was engaged in its design. In this house, the creative intelligentsia of the late 19th century gathered for parties. One of the expositions of the museum is dedicated to mountaineering and tourism, there is an exhibition with ethnographic exhibits. The main hall is dedicated to the work of Kramshamkhalov. Copies of his paintings, poems, photographs are exhibited.

Museum of Nature

The Nature Museum of the Teberda Nature Reserve is located in a building called the Forester's House. There are several expositions that tell about the natural resources of the region and the reserve. Thematic rooms present to visitors collections of minerals and stones, plants - herbs and flowers. In the central hall there is a map with the reliefs of the reserve, where all the gorges, rivers and lakes are skillfully depicted.

Azgek lakes

The group of lakes of tar origin is located in the Azgek river basin. Azgek lakes consist of two groups - eastern and western. The road to the eastern lakes is easier and is about 30 km in both directions. There is no well-trodden path to the western lakes, so it is better to go to them with an experienced guide. There are wild animals in the Azgek Valley - bears, chamois, tours, so you should be careful while hiking.

Lake Shobaidak

Alpine lake in the Mukhinsky gorge. It looks picturesque among the mountain peaks, on which there is no forest, but only snow. The lake itself is covered with ice for most of the year; no fish live in it. This route is not the most popular among tourists, so the journey here can be safely called unique.Hiking to Shobaidak Lake is difficult and long, so tourists prefer to book an excursion in off-road vehicles.

Khadzhibey lake

One of the highest located lakes in the Teberda Nature Reserve. It is located at an altitude of 2900 meters, surrounded by mountain peaks 4000 meters high. The route to it is difficult and passes through different natural zones. The hike begins from broad-leaved forests and ends among bare rocks and snow. The valley of the Khadzhibey River is not very popular among tourists, people are rarely here, so it is possible to meet wild animals.

Monument to the first border guards

Installed in memory of the border guards who died in July 1918 at the post during the formation of Soviet power. On the memorial plate, the inscription is partially erased and the letters are hard to read, but the names of the fallen soldiers of the Teberda frontier Red Guard detachment can be made out. The monument was erected in a public garden on Lenin Street near Lake Karakel. It represents the figure of a soldier in uniform on a high pedestal.

Recreation center "Ozerny"

Located on Kirov Street next to the Teberda River and the Fire Pond. The base has its own trout farm. For a fee, guests can rent fishing equipment, as well as a barbecue for preparing the catch. If desired, the caught fish will be prepared by the chef of the base. The base has a cozy and picturesque location, houses for living and gazebos are placed overlooking the mountains. There is a Russian bathhouse, places for walks in the middle of nature.

Recreation center "Rybachiy Stan"

The base is located one hundred meters from the Teberda River. On its territory there is a small reservoir, on the banks of which there are houses for living. Trout and sturgeon are bred in the pond; at the request of guests, freshly caught fish is prepared for them and served on the table. The fish soup cooked over a fire is considered an original dish. For entertainment, guests can be offered walks on a quad bike or a visit to the Russian bath.

Sanatorium "Teberda"

Alpine sanatorium specializing in the treatment of tuberculosis. It is located in the spurs of the main Caucasian ridge at an altitude of 1300 meters. The sanatorium was founded in 1800 and since then has gained well-deserved popularity for its unique methods of treatment, comfort and service. Bioclimatic features of the area are actively used in the treatment. For the guests of the sanatorium, excursions to the natural places of Teberda, Arkhyz and Dombai are organized.
