Orthodoxy came to the Krasnoyarsk land at the beginning of the 17th century. Since then, many churches and monasteries have been built in Krasnoyarsk itself and throughout the province. Some of them managed to be preserved, some were lost during the years of Soviet power, along with the relics kept there. One of the main temples of the city is the Intercession Cathedral of the 18th century. This is one of the best examples of Siberian "baroque". Pilgrims should also visit the Annunciation Church and the Church of St. John the Baptist at the Bishops' House.

Since the early 90s, more than 280 temple buildings have been restored and built in the city, including monasteries and chapels. The temple in honor of the icon of the Mother of God "The Tsaritsa" deserves special attention, the project of which was developed more than a century ago. Many churches were built in new neighborhoods of the city to strengthen the spiritual life of the townspeople and preserve the Orthodox traditions of the region.
