In this article, we'll take a closer look at all the ways to get from the airports to Barcelona city center by bus, metro, train and taxi, as well as tell you where to look for stops, travel times and ticket prices.


In Barcelona 3 airports - El Prat, Reus and Girona. El Prat is the main airport of Barcelona and Catalonia, and the rest of the airports "unload" it. Mainly low-cost airlines fly to Reus and Girona; from these airports it is very convenient to get to the resort towns of the region - there are numerous buses running there.

El Prat Airport - Barcelona: how to get to the city

El Prat is the largest airport in Catalonia, located about 10 km from the center of Barcelona. You can get from the airport to the city by train, metro, bus and taxi.

How to get from Barcelona airport by bus

To / from Barcelona Airport can be reached by the following buses:

1. Airbuses A1 and A2 (Placa Catalunya - Airport)

What is the difference between them? Airbus A1 arrives at Terminal 1 (T1, stops at levels 0 and 3 - arrival and departure zones), and Airbus A2, respectively, at Terminal 2 (T2, stops at T2A, T2B and T2C). One way fare is EUR 5.9, round trip (valid for 15 days) - EUR 10.2. Wave your hand to stop the bus. When you get to Placa Catalunya by airbus, you can change to the metro to get to your destination.

2. Metropolitan buses (Barcelona Metropolitan Transport):

  • L46 line (Placa Espanya - Airport T1 and T2). Cost: 2.15 euros. Opening hours: The first bus leaves the airport at 5:30, the last at 00:45.
  • LPR1 line (El Prat de Llobregat (RENFE railway station) - Airport T1, T2A, T2B and T2C). Opening hours: The first bus leaves the airport at 6:35, the last at 22:35. Buses run every 30 minutes.
  • L77 line (Sant Joan Despí - Cornellà de Ll. - Sant Boi de Ll. - Prat de Llobregat - Airport T1 and T2). Opening hours: The first bus leaves the airport at 6:25, the last at 22:05. Buses run every 20 minutes.
  • L99 line (Castelldefels, Gavà and Viladecans - Airport T1). Opening hours: The first bus leaves the airport at 6:45, the last at 22:15. Buses run every 30 minutes.
  • N17 line (Plaza Catalunya (Ronda Universidad) - Airport T1). Night bus with many stops in Barcelona. Opening hours: The first bus leaves the airport at 21:55, the last at 4:45. Buses run every 20 minutes.
  • N16 line (Rda. Universitat - Pl. Catalunya - T2 Airport - Castelldefels). Night bus from Barcelona to Castelldefels via the airport. Opening hours: The first bus leaves the airport at 23:00, the last at 4:40. Buses run every 30 minutes.
  • Line L105 canceled.

Attention: T1 - terminal 1, T2 - terminal 2. Be sure to pay attention to these designations. However, if you made a mistake and arrived at one terminal, and you need to take off from another, you can take the Bustransit T1-T2 shuttle that runs between the terminals. Opening hours: from 5:30 am to 12 am, the bus runs every 6-7 minutes.

3. Intercity buses from / to Barcelona airport:

  • ALSA - National Express connects Barcelona airport with cities such as Tarragona, Reus, Girona, Lleida and Figueres. Tickets cost from 13.2 euros one way, depending on the city.
  • Directbus and Novatel - buses go to Andorra-la-Vella.
  • Autocars Plana - to La Pineda, Salou and Cambrils.
  • Mon-bus - to Tarragona.
  • Rapid Aeroport - to Figueres, Girona, Lleida, Reus and Tarragona.

Buses at Barcelona Airport are located in front of Terminal 2 as well as at the departure area of ​​Terminal 1, floor P0.

Get to the city by train

The train is a great option to get to Barcelona airport or city center quickly and without traffic jams. From 6 am to 11 pm, you can get from Barcelona airport to the center by trains that run every 30 minutes. Train route: Aeropuerto - Sant Celoni / Maçanet Massanes... If you are traveling to the airport, you can catch this train at Clot, Passeig de Gràcia or Barcelona Sants (also known as Sants Estació). If you are traveling from Barcelona airport to the city, you need to find the train station - it is located in the T2B building. You will need to go to the covered walkway, follow the signs.

Get off at the above stations and take the metro to get to your destination. Travel time to Passeig de Gràcia is about 27 minutes. The first train from the airport to Barcelona leaves at 5:42 am, the last at 11:38 pm.

You can buy train tickets in special machines available at the airport and at the city's stations.

How to get to Barcelona airport by metro

Since February 2016, it is finally possible to get to Barcelona Airport by Metro! The branch is called L9 Sud and connects both terminals with the subway. Trains are automatic, there are express trains (without stops) and ordinary ones. The Aeroport T1 stop is inside the terminal, the Aeroport T2 stop is outside, following the train station.

Line L9 Sud connects the airport with Zona Universitària. It is important to remember that it does not go through major stations (eg Plaça Catalunya) - it will take time to get to the airport with a transfer. Sometimes it is easier to use direct buses or trains. Study the metro map to get directions.

Fare - 4.5 euros... You need to purchase special tickets for the airport Bitllet Aeroport, regular tickets and T10 passes are not valid.

By taxi to Barcelona

Taxis can always be found at the main exits from the terminals, which is one of the most convenient (but expensive) ways to get from Barcelona airport to the center. The trip will take 20 to 30 minutes, depending on traffic and distance.

Taxi fares to Barcelona:

  • 24 € - up to Plaça Espanya;
  • 27 € - up to Plaça Catalunya;
  • 30 € - up to Sagrada Familia;
  • 43 € - until Sant Cugat del Vallès.

Girona airport: how to get to Barcelona

Girona Airport in Barcelona is used mainly by low-cost airlines. The airport is located at a considerable distance from the center of Barcelona - 90 km. The Costa Brava, Girona and other cities are nearby.

Barselona Bus buses from Girona Airport take you to Barcelona's main bus station - Estació del Nord... One way ticket costs 16 euros. For bus timetables, visit www.sagales.com. By buses of the same company, you can get to the nearest cities.

You can also get to the center of Barcelona by RENFE train, but first you need to get to Girona by the above-mentioned bus. Travel time from Girona to Barcelona is approximately 1 hour 10 minutes. The train schedule can be found on the RENFE website.

Reus Airport: How to Get to Barcelona City Center

Reus Airport is located near the resort towns of Reus and Salou. Barcelona is about 1.5 hours away.

From Reus Airport you can get to Barcelona by company buses La Hispano Igualadina, the bus stop is at the exit from the terminal. The ticket price is 12-14 euros one way, round trip - 22 euros. Buses arrive at Barcelona Sants bus station.

From the airport, take bus number 50 to the Reus train station, and from there go to Barcelona by train.
