How to get to Vietnam the cheapest way? The review lists all the best ways to fly to Nha Trang, Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Da Nang and Fukuoka from Moscow, St. Petersburg and other cities. Direct flights, flights with transfers, low-cost airlines, airline promotions and difficult routes.

Vietnam is one of the most popular countries for recreation and wintering in Southeast Asia. It is also a very good starting point for large and long travels in Indochina and Asia in general. Let's try to understand all the intricacies of the pricing of air tickets to this country and find out all the ways to cheaply fly to Vietnam.

How to find cheap flights? I always look for tickets on the search engines Skyscanner and Aviasales - all the examples in this article were found through them.

The examples show the cost of air tickets in both directions. Prices are current at the time of publication.

Let's get started!

Where better to fly

The main airports in Vietnam are located in Hanoi (capital, north of the country) and Ho Chi Minh City (largest city, south of the country). This is the main air gate of the country and hosts the largest number of aircraft. The easiest way to fly is in them: a large selection of flights and airlines, as well as the lowest ticket prices. Usually the best price for flights to Ho Chi Minh City, but sometimes excellent options can be found to the capital, no more expensive.

For those who fly to Vietnam for a beach holiday, it is more convenient to fly directly to Nha Trang, Da Nang or Phu Quoc Island, but tickets for flights to these destinations are usually more expensive. However, you can very easily and cheaply get to Nha Trang from Ho Chi Minh City.

General recommendations

  • Tickets for holidays are always more expensive (for example, New Year's or Tet's).
  • Try to fly on weekdays - most often tickets departing in the middle of the week are the cheapest. One way or another, always experiment with dates: by sliding them in one direction or another, you can find tickets at a significantly lower price.
  • Try different cities of departure / arrival, if the situation allows you.
  • Follow the promotions and sales that are arranged by airlines (for example, you can do it here, on - we write about the most interesting offers for travelers).
  • Plan ahead. If the departure date is close, then it is very difficult to find something at a reasonable price, especially during the high season (for Vietnam it is winter).
  • Compare. It is best to search for flights on search engines - they compare prices from different airlines and booking systems and offer the best option. In 90% of cases, they find tickets for 300-1000 rubles cheaper than the airlines themselves offer on their websites. I recommend Skyscanner and Aviasales - I only use them myself.

Direct flights to Vietnam

The first way to fly to Vietnam is not the cheapest, but the fastest.

The cost of tickets for a direct flight from Moscow to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh usually starts from 27,000 rubles, but such prices are not often found - usually tickets are more expensive. As a rule, Aeroflot offers the best prices for these routes, while Vietnam Airlines offers higher prices. A direct flight takes only 9-10 hours.

There are no direct regular flights to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh from St. Petersburg and other cities of Russia. Aeroflot flies through Moscow - if you choose the shortest connection, it will be the fastest way to get to Vietnam from St. Petersburg.

Direct flights from Russian cities to Nha Trang are carried out by charter airlines - for example, Azur Air. But such tickets rarely appear on sale separately from the tour package.

Travel accommodation. Look for hotels on Roomguru - there you can find accommodation at any price! For example, on the island of Catba (Halong Bay), you can rent a beautiful room overlooking the bay from 1500 rubles per day. For those traveling to Nha Trang, we sincerely recommend Min Hoa - we stayed in this beautiful budget mini-hotel for almost three months.

Looking for something more than just hotels? Rent a house or apartment on the well-known service Airbnb.ru - it is much more comfortable and often cheaper than hotels (especially if you are traveling with a company or family).

Flight to Vietnam with transfers

The best way to get to Vietnam cheaply is to fly there with a transfer. It is not difficult to choose an option that will not lose much in comparison with a direct flight in terms of duration and comfort. For example, if you are flying from Moscow to Ho Chi Minh City, then a good solution would be to buy tickets for a flight from Etihad or another Middle Eastern airline with a short connection to Abu Dhabi, Dubai or Doha (from 1.5 hours). It will be cheaper than flying to Ho Chi Minh City on a direct flight, and the loss in time will be only 3-4 hours, no more.

Departures from Moscow

The easiest way to get to Vietnam is from Moscow - the largest number of airlines fly from the capital, and the cost of the flight is usually the lowest for Russia.

An adequate price for air tickets to Vietnam from Moscow can be considered 25-30 thousand rubles. If you come across something cheaper, you can safely take it. The cheapest way is usually to fly to Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi - tickets cost from 22,000 rubles. Flights to Nha Trang (from 25,000) and Danang (from 30,000) are slightly more expensive. Sometimes for 22-25 thousand rubles you can find tickets to the Vietnamese island resort of Phu Quoc.

From St. Petersburg and other cities

Fly to Vietnam from Saint-Petersburg will come out more expensive than from the capital: the price of a flight to both Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi rarely drops below 25,000 rubles - often flights with two connections are carried out at this price. Flights to the cities of Vietnam with one connection usually cost from 30 thousand.

It is quite cheap to get to Vietnam from Irkutsk: only from 25,000 rubles are tickets to Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi. It is convenient to fly with codeshare flights S7 and Cathay Pacific with a transfer in Hong Kong (you can also see this beautiful city at the same time).

It is possible to fly to the cities and resorts of Vietnam from Novosibirsk, Yekaterinburg, Ufa, Khabarovsk, Rostov-on-Don from 30 thousand rubles. From Vladivostok - from 25 thousand.

For those who fly without a return ticket

If you are flying to Vietnam for a long time, it is best to try to get round-trip tickets right away. The fact is that one-way tickets cost, alas, not half of the cost of round-trip air tickets, but about 60-70%. A return ticket, if purchased separately, may cost even more. Of course, if you are planning a long trip to Asia or simply going there to spend the winter, it can be difficult to decide in advance on the date of your return to Russia, but it is better to try to do it all the same.

You can fly to Vietnam without a return ticket from 14 thousand rubles from Moscow and St. Petersburg, from 18 thousand - from Vladivostok, Yekaterinburg, Irkutsk, Kazan and other cities.

Hunt for a share

If the time allows, then you can not rush to buy tickets, but take a wait and see attitude until better times, that is, until some action or sale with pleasant prices for flights to Vietnam appears. Such sales are not uncommon: many airlines arrange them, so this or that promotion takes place about once or twice a month. There is no need to expect outstanding and selfless generosity from airlines - as a rule, within the framework of promotions and special offers, the price of tickets to Vietnam and other countries of Southeast Asia drops by a couple of thousand rubles. The average price of tickets for the promotion is about 20-23 thousand rubles. However, stock hunting is still the best way to get to Vietnam with minimal airfare.

Fly to Vietnam on a last minute tour

Another way to get cheap flights to Vietnam is to catch a hot tour at the lowest price. At times, tour operators sell tickets even cheaper than regular flights. Tours to Vietnam from Moscow for two people for 7 nights cost from 27,000 rubles, for 11 nights - from 33,000 rubles. At the same time, the tour will also include accommodation, transfer, insurance and sometimes meals. There are even lower prices - we write about these in the section of last minute tours.

Difficult route

An unusual way to get to Vietnam inexpensively is to buy tickets with a difficult route. Etihad and some others sometimes have an interesting incident with the pricing of tickets to Asia, if the route is formed as follows: "Moscow - Asia - Yekaterinburg". The use of this scheme can reduce the ticket price by 4-6 thousand rubles! It is not at all necessary to fly to Yekaterinburg after the trip, the flight is carried out with a transfer in Moscow - having arrived here, you can simply not fly further, no one can forbid you to do this. I gave an example of such a scheme in this news. If you're lucky enough to stumble across tickets that work for this scheme, it might be the cheapest way to fly to Vietnam - don't miss your chance!

Fly to Vietnam for the New Year

Many would like to celebrate the New Year and spend the holidays not among the snowdrifts, but under a palm tree by the warm sea, so in the heads of many, tired of the stable strong minus Celsius, the question arises of how to inexpensively fly to Vietnam for the New Year. Therefore, I will share my observations on ticket prices for the New Year.

In general, in order to buy tickets as cheap as possible, you need to be guided by one rule - avoid dates between December 20 and January 10 (+ - several days). This period is always the most expensive. But there are also loopholes - for example, tickets with a return date of departure on January 1 or 2 are often quite inexpensive. But in this case, you need to fly on vacation as early as possible.

In general, the search for cheap tickets for the New Year is a game with almost no rules and requires luck. The best way to find something acceptable is to go to search engines that compare prices among hundreds of airlines (like Skyscanner and Aviasales) and play with departure / arrival dates. Nobody canceled the case, so it makes sense to try your luck by checking the price for as many dates as possible.

Get to Vietnam via another Asian country

A situation may arise that it will be much cheaper for you to get not to Vietnam, but to some other country in Southeast Asia, for example, you will find inexpensive tickets to Thailand or Malaysia. If the difference in price is significant (at least 5-10 thousand), then it makes sense to buy these tickets. The fact is that numerous low-cost airlines fly across Asia (for example, Air Asia), which often sell tickets at the lowest prices - it so happens that a flight costs only 500 rubles. So if you see tickets from your city, say, to Bangkok, which cost 5 thousand rubles less, and Air Asia (or some other local low-cost carrier) has tickets from Bangkok to Vietnam for only 1000 rubles, then the benefit obvious. In addition, this way you can not only save money, but also visit an additional country and, if time permits, stay there for a day or two.

For this discussion of ways of how to fly to Vietnam cheaply, I declare closed. Search, compare, experiment, and you will definitely find cheap tickets! Good luck hunting them and enjoy your travels!
