How does Montenegro attract tourists in June? What is the weather like in Montenegro this summer? Be patient, read to the end and find out the answers to all questions.

For those who want everything at once (good weather, comfort and reasonable cost), vacation in Montenegro in June is the golden mean. Prices and air temperatures have not yet reached their maximum, but the swimming season is already approaching.

Twice I was in Montenegro on the border of the first two summer months. And both times I envied those who arrived a couple of weeks earlier: they managed to enjoy the loneliness on the beaches and were smoothly drawn into the summer heat;)

Montenegro is open to Russians. No visa, tests and quarantines.

  • View air tickets on Aviasales - so far only flights from Moscow with connections in Belgrade and Minsk are available (to be honest, they flew that way until 2020).
  • Choose hotels and apartments on RoomGuru - there is more choice and promotions than on Booking.

Do you need a visa to Montenegro?

Montenegro in June 2021 offers a bonus in the form of a 90-day stay in the country without a visa (valid from 15 April to 31 October). The rest of the time for Russian tourists, the period is limited to 30 days.

There is also such a thing as a visa run. To extend your legal stay in Montenegro, it is enough to go with an excursion, for example, to neighboring Croatia. For such trips, Schengen is not needed (although you are entering the EU), and upon returning you will be stamped in your passport with a new date. The "zeroed" 30 days will be counted from it.

Beach holidays in Montenegro - weather in June

Embankment and Central Beach in Budva

Scientifically, the climate in Montenegro is called temperate continental. This means that when you are in the heat on the shore, it is cool for someone in the mountains in light clothes. But since they come here for the sake of a seaside holiday, in our forecasts we will be guided by the coast.

The weather in Montenegro in June is very mild and is most suitable for those who cannot stand extreme heat. At the same time, there are sunny days throughout the month (on average, 25 days out of 30 are clear).

Is it possible to swim in Montenegro in June? Quite. Already at the beginning of the month, the sea temperature reaches + 21 ° C. In mid-June, you can safely go there on vacation with children: the water is gaining up to + 24 ° C and continues to heat up. The maximum water temperature in Montenegro in June 2020 was + 25.6 ° C!

Rainfall this month is rare, but it is there. And their number depends on the chosen place of rest.

Water and air temperature in Montenegro in June

Resorts in Montenegro stretch along the entire sea coast. And in each of them the June weather will be slightly different. On average, the air temperature in Montenegro in June is + 25 ° C during the day and + 19 ° C at night.

I sketched for you a summary table of temperatures for the most popular Montenegrin destinations:

Air temperature (day), ° CWater temperature, ° C
Budva+25,5+24,6
Herceg Novi+25+24,2
Ulcin+25+24,8
Sveti Stefan+25,5+24,6
Petrovac+26+24,7

The sea in Montenegro in June warms up almost evenly. This means that your beach holiday will be guaranteed to be comfortable. True, there is one BUT ... We learned about this from the locals during our first trip.

Underwater currents run along the coast. They stir the water, purifying and ... cooling it. Therefore, there are days when the sea (especially in the morning) seems cold. But usually the water warms up again by lunchtime.

Prices for tours to Montenegro in June 2021

We went to Kotor for 3 days (from there you can get to Tivat or Perast)

Tours to Montenegro are still suspended because no charters... From Russia for June 2021 a flight Moscow-Tivat flies with a docking in Belgrade - as in the good old days. You can buy it on Aviasales or Skyscanner. Then an easy choice of a hotel on RoomGuru (there are a lot of them now!) And now the "tour" is ready. May be supplemented with insurance if deemed necessary.

There is one problem with Montenegro: a 100% direct flight can only be guaranteed from Moscow. Departures from regions change from season to season, and to find out for sure whether there is one or not (or from the nearest large city), I recommend looking at online tour aggregators:

  • Travelata
  • Level.Travel
  • Onlinetours

Services collect offers from all leading travel companies, display prices for tours directly from the tour operator and immediately "pull up" real reviews of tourists about hotels. Conveniently, I have been using aggregators for 2 years, I have already organized 4 vacations :)

✓ The cheapest tour to Montenegro in June for two will cost 45,000 rubles - for 7 days, in simple 2-3 stars and, most likely, in busy Budva.

✓ The cost of all-inclusive tours is already from 95,000 rubles, all in Montenegro is still a luxury and rarity.

✓ Prices for vouchers for a family - mom, dad, child - from 50,000 rubles.

Resorts of Montenegro - where is the best place to relax in June?

Let's figure out where it is warmer in Montenegro in June.

ULTSIN

If you look on the map, this is one of the southernmost and warmest resorts. All the beaches of Ulcinj are sandy, and the sand there is not simple, but black, medicinal. The largest beach in the country, Velika Plaža, is located 12 km from the city.

The sun, sandy bottom and silence attract families with children in the first place. A tour to Ulcinj will cost the most, but food and meal prices are among the lowest in the country.

PETROVAC

A small town on the Budva Riviera with an ideal location. My favorite among all the resorts! The mountains here come so close to the sea that the reflected sunlight warms the water better. Also suitable for a quiet family holiday, although entertainment can be found for adults as well.

Busy Budva can be reached by transport in less than half an hour. There are both sandy beaches (City Beach and Luchitsa) and small-pebble beaches (Buljarica). At the last one, locals come to swim. Note: private housing for rent in Petrovac is all modern and therefore quite expensive. But the voucher can come out cheap.

BUDVA

The most popular resort in Montenegro. It has it all - the beautiful Old Town, the nightlife and the best (but crowded) beaches.

The influx of tourists in Budva happens in July. Therefore, in May-June, you can relax here quite inexpensively. For those who dream of Budva, but want to sleep peacefully at night, such neighboring resorts as Becici and Rafailovici are suitable - these are nearby, you can walk on foot.

HERCEG-NOVI

Located in the Bay of Kotor. A beautiful city with a great many steep stairs! The beaches here are only concrete and pebble (moreover, the pebbles are such that it is difficult to enter the water without special shoes). But there are many of them in the city - paid and free, for every taste.

In June, it rains more often in Herceg Novi than in the rest of the coast. Therefore, be prepared, stock up on warmer clothes. Apart from ordinary hotels, Herceg Novi is famous for its health resorts.

Sveti-stefan

It is not only an island resort, which is considered the most expensive in Montenegro, but also a nearby town on the side of a mountain. The city has a public free beach, and housing can be found quite budget.

The beaches are pebbly. It is difficult to walk on the slope with a stroller. Therefore, it is better to come here with older children.

Passwords and attendances have been handed over, now the choice of where to relax in Montenegro in June is yours. By the way, a more detailed analysis of the locations is in our separate article about the resorts of Montenegro.

Montenegro attractions - what to do in June?

Montenegro is a country located “by the blue sea, in the high mountains”. A beautiful natural contrast of different landscapes and climatic zones, many ancient monuments and the same huge number of excursions around this abundance will definitely not let you get bored even for a second and think about what to do in Montenegro and what to see in June ... There is entertainment for every taste.

For lovers of antiquity:

  • Budva - in June there are two festivals at once: "Grad-Theater" (theatrical performances in the open air) and the international music festival "Song of the Mediterranean".
  • You can go on your own by public transport or a rented car.
  • Kotor is an ancient city included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
  • You can visit as part of a tour of the Boka Kotorska Bay. The cost of the trip: € 25 - adults, € 12.5 - children.
  • Perast and the island of Gospa od Shkrpela (Mother of God on the reef).
  • Perast is a city of Russian sailors, its whole history is connected with our sailors. Therefore, it is interesting to watch and listen.
  • You can take a boat ride to the man-made island of the Virgin on the Reef. It was literally made by the inhabitants of Perast with their own hands. The island turned out to be small, but very colorful, I advise you to visit it. It is also part of the excursions around the Bay of Kotor.

We went on an excursion to the Tara River Canyon, Durmitor Park and Piva Lake
For nature lovers:

  • Skadar Lake - located on the territory of two countries - Montenegro and Albania. A place where migratory birds from all over Europe nest. Well worth seeing! The highlight of the program is giant pelicans.
  • You can get there on your own, or you can take a sightseeing bus.
  • The price of a trip as part of a group is € 40 (adults) and € 20 (children).
  • The canyons of the Tara and Moraca rivers are a breathtaking ride along the mountain serpentine. A sea of photos is guaranteed for you!
  • There are separate large full-day excursions along the canyons. Prices are the same as for a trip to Lake Skadar.
  • Durmitor National Park - located at the foot of the mountain of the same name, the highest point in Montenegro. When going there, take care of warm clothes, it is always much cooler in the mountains. A visit to the park is part of a trip through the canyons.

For the soul:

  • The Ostrog monastery is one of the most important places of pilgrimage for Orthodox people. Carved into the rock at an altitude of 900 meters.
  • Excursions on specific days, as should not interfere with services. The cost of the trip is € 25 and € 12.5 (adults / children, respectively).
  • You must have a scarf with you (for women, to cover the head and shoulders). The legs should also be covered.
  • Cetinje Monastery - located in the first capital of Montenegro - Cetinje (the city itself, by the way, is also worthy of attention).
  • The entrance to the monastery is free. The main thing is that the appearance is consistent.
  • The excursion can be ordered, but individual. The guide will cost you from € 108 (you can chip in four - the maximum number of people).
  • Mount Lovcen and the Njegos mausoleum - a memorial to the most revered ruler by Montenegrins, is located on the top of Mount Lovcen, not far from Cetinje (you can get there with the same guide).
  • From the walls of the mausoleum you can see the whole country!

For the thrill:

  • Rafting on the rivers Moraca and Tara. The first is suitable for beginners, the second is for more experienced rafters.
  • Price: € 65 per adult (from 12 years old), € 32.5 - child ticket.

As you can see, you can relax in Montenegro in June in a fun, informative and sometimes even with a twinkle;))

Note: on my last trip, I discovered Tripster, a site where you can book an excursion from a local (Russian-speaking) person. In case you don't want / can't take a car or use public transport.

Reviews of Montenegro in June 2019 - is it worth going?

Island Gospa od Shkrpela in the Bay of Kotor near the town of Perast

The Balkan Adriatic coast is a healthy competitor to such popular tourist destinations as Cyprus or Turkey: the sea, sun and visa are not required. But Montenegro wins a little in June, thanks to the mild climate and rich nature. Many reviews agree with me: even at the beginning of summer, the daytime temperature in the Mediterranean Sea exceeds + 30 ° C and is difficult to tolerate. But for the sake of objectivity I will say: Cyprus will still be a little cheaper.

Reviews about Montenegro in June are extremely positive. The most important points that every tourist mentions:

+ adjusted for the new order in tourism - Russians are allowed to enter without a test!
+ no heat, just warm and comfortable
+ the sea in Montenegro is already warmed up in June (from the second half)
+ the peak of the season has not yet arrived, so the beaches are not crowded and calm
+ prices in Montenegro are not high anyway, and in June they are even slightly lower
+ ideal time for road trips - cars are plentiful, inexpensive (look at Myrentacar)

- rains are possible, but they do not frighten anyone

On my own I will add that at this time local fruits ripen en masse (imported ones are on the shelves all year round). In early June, Montenegro will pamper everyone with cherries and cherries. Towards the middle of the month they will begin to harvest peaches and nectarines, apricots will appear a little later. Only there I understood what the expression "honey apricot" means!

In addition, Montenegro at the end of June is rich in blackberries, blueberries and such exotic as mulberry and medlar. If you go close to the mountains, you can also eat wild strawberries (the villagers actively collect them). So you need to go, definitely :)
