Cape Tarhankut is a Maldivian beach and white Dorset cliffs that merge into volcanic shores. Amazing place! Find out about the rest on Tarkhankut, how to get there, what are the prices in Olenevka in 2021 and what to see.

I first learned about Cape Tarkhankut many years ago when I was looking for interesting places in Crimea. Then there was almost no information about him on the Internet - a couple of scanty lines and a few photos. Tarkhankut, Dzhangul, Atlesh, Olenevka - it is impossible not to visit places with such alluring names. And you know - the places are really fantastic!

How to get to Tarkhankut

Tarkhankut is both a cape and a peninsula. It is located in the westernmost point of Crimea. In the northeast of the peninsula - the Dzhangul landslide coast, in the southeast - Bolshoi and Maliy Atlesh.

The easiest way to get to Tarkhankut is by car - your own or rented. You need to go to the village of Olenevka - mostly tourists live there. Someone stops at Chernomorskoye, but it is still far from there.

If there is no car, take the bus. There is a bus from Evpatoria twice a day to Olenevka - at 10:16 and 16:20. The morning bus leaves Simferopol and enters Evpatoria. A ticket used to cost 276 rubles. We bought tickets for bus stations in Evpatoria, but now you can also online at gosbus.ru. See the current schedule in the same place or on the "Yandex. Schedule" website.

Housing prices in Olenevka - 2021

To see the sights of Tarkhankut, we recommend staying in Olenevka. There are many housing, cafes and shops, and the cape is nearby. There are few proposals in the village of Mayak. There are plenty of options in the Black Sea, but the cape is still far away.

There are now a lot of private accommodation and hotels in Olenevka - it seems that every second house is a guest house. It is better to book in advance on Hotellook or search on the spot. In Crimea, it is customary to rent housing in the old fashioned way - signs "Housing by the Sea" with phone numbers hang everywhere. Hosts do not like to work with booking systems, as they have to pay a commission. They give out business cards and ask to call and book directly. These are the sly ones.

Prices for hotels and the private sector on Tarkhankut in 2021 are the same as in the whole Crimea: in high season a double room with a bathroom in a guest house costs from 1000 rubles per day, but more often - from 1300 rubles. Accommodation in a hotel with a swimming pool - from 3000 rubles. And there was a time when we lived in Olenevka for 200 rubles in September! Now there are no such prices at all, the minimum price in the private sector in low season - 800 rubles, high - 1500 rubles.

We lived in the budget guest houses "Selena" and "Kaktus" - we recommend! Other good options in Olenevka: the Solnechnaya Dolina boarding house, the Smerekova Khata complex, the Agidel guest house with a swimming pool, the beautiful Olvia with a playground and the modern Atlantic villa.

Advice. If you are going to Crimea out of season, book accommodation with free cancellation. After booking, you will be given the hotel owner's number. Call and find out if the hotel is ready to receive you. In Crimea, homeowners are unlucky - it may turn out that the owner in general is in Ukraine and has long forgotten that he posted an ad on the site. We have encountered this twice.

Only about 1,500 people permanently live in the village, and during the low season the owners of the guest houses leave, so it is not so easy to find housing.

Olenevka beaches (Crimean Maldives)

There is only one beach in Olenevka - sandy "Miami Beach". It is located on a long spit between the estuary and the sea. The beach is cleaned in high season, its left side is landscaped. A sandy beach is a rarity in Crimea, so many tourists come to Olenevka to rest for it.

When the sea is calm, "Miami Beach" becomes a paradise - this is downright Crimean Maldives! We could not believe our eyes: the water is clear, the sand is light, calm. If there are waves, the idyll disappears. The beach is good for families with small children, because the entrance is shallow and the sea is shallow.

We liked Miami Beach, it is spacious and beautiful. And what romantic sunsets are there! But not everyone is delighted with it. Some tourists in their reviews scold the beach because of the undeveloped infrastructure, garbage, the smell from the estuary and the invasion of jellyfish.

Yes, the infrastructure is still in its infancy and there are no typical southern entertainments, but for us this is a plus - the beach was so quiet that you can meditate. There was no smell during our vacation, there was no garbage either, but there are a lot of jellyfish.

On Tarkhankut there are also beaches under the cliffs. Nudists and lovers of secluded wild rest stay there. However, this is not safe - the coast is washed away by the sea, and the coast may collapse.

There are wild pebble and rocky beaches on Maliy Atlesh - next to the Chalice of Love, behind it and in the Gnilaya Bay. There is a campsite behind the Chalice.

Food and shops in Olenevka

Public catering... As elsewhere, in Olenevka there are establishments of different levels. There is a dining room "Equator" and many cafes and restaurants: super-budget "Anna", inexpensive "Chaika", expensive restaurant Olivia del Mar, cafe "Barakuda", "Khutorok" and "Miami club" (located on the beach).

We ate mainly in "Anna", where the prices were like in the dining room: chebureks 70-90 rubles, chicken chop - 150 rubles, mashed potatoes - 50 rubles, soups for 100 rubles, lagman - 150 rubles, mullet - 100 rubles, dumplings 10 pcs. ... - 80 rubles, drinks - 40-50 rubles. They also ate at "Chaika" - prices are higher, but the food is tastier.

The shops... There are a lot of ordinary rural grocery stores, the assortment there is good. There are no supermarkets. Prices for Tarkhankut are higher than in other cities of Crimea: bananas - 100 rubles per kg, oranges - 120 rubles, juice - 80-120 rubles per liter.

Big and Small Atlesh

Big and Small Atlesh are dazzling white cliffs, undermined by water. They look like a birthday puff cake. These are beautiful arches and fragments of rocks in the turquoise sea, wild, inaccessible beaches, natural amphitheaters in bays, grottoes, underwater caves, the famous through channel in the cape and the Cup of Love, which is popular with tourists. Scenes from the cult Soviet films "Pirates of the 20th Century" and "Amphibian Man" were filmed on Atlesha.

Chalice of love not impressive in sunny weather - just a natural pool surrounded by reefs. In cloudy weather with a stormy sea, a completely different picture appears - this is no longer a pop attraction with a sentimental and vulgar legend, but a harsh coastline with an alien landscape, like somewhere in Scotland or Iceland.

Do not miss the snow-white lighthouse in the village of Mayak and the sunken cargo ship "Ibrahim-Yakim" nearby, as well as the unusual monument "The Thinker", reminiscent of a pagan menhir.

Dzhangul

The Dzhangul landslide coast is striking in scale and wildness. From the shores, views of landslides and landslides open up, over time covered with grass and trees. The landscape combines the idyllic with the harsh and chaotic in an interesting way. We have not met a single soul here!

The reserve is good for hiking - there are many paths along the cliffs (about 5 km). However, it is more convenient to come by car, since the size of the tract is huge - 100 hectares. There are several bays and safe beaches, and the remains of the sunken dry-cargo ship "Sirius" look sadly out of the water.

Underwater Museum "Alley of the Leaders"

If you are diving, on the Bolshoi Atlesh visit the underwater museum "Leader's Alley". The museum began with a bust of Lenin, and then was replenished with busts of Marx, Zinoviev, Stalin, Dzerzhinsky and others. Then they began to add monuments to artists. The algae busts look unusual!

Extreme

Rest in Olenevka is not so much a beach holiday as an active one. The sea is considered the cleanest in Crimea, there are convenient diving sites and underwater reefs, so divers, paddlers, windsurfers and kitesurfers come here.In the village there is a school Wind Extreme Crimea - there you can study and get a certificate, as well as rent equipment.

There are bike and ATV rental points in the village. You can also go fishing and spearfishing, ride a boat.

Sea excursions in Tarkhankut

Is it worth taking a sea excursion around Tarkhankut? Yes, we really liked it! There are boat trips along Atlesh and Dzhangul. They are expensive, but worth it, because the coast is best viewed from the sea.

We took an hour walk along the Atlesh for 3000 rubles from Victor - he showed us caves, grottoes, gave us a ride through a through tunnel, and even at our request showed us near dolphins!

Is it worth going to Tarkhankut

While Tarkhankut is a secluded place far from civilization. Not everyone knows about it and arrives here. There are few tourists in Olenevka, the infrastructure is poorly developed, but that's the beauty of it. Perhaps in a few years the village will no longer be so secluded.

Who should go on vacation to Olenevka in 2021:

  • romantics and nature lovers
  • lovers of sandy beaches
  • athletes and fans of active sports
  • for tourists who love solitude.
