The tea capital of Georgia is one of the quietest resorts on the Black Sea coast. We will tell you how we saw Chakvi, whether it is good to swim there, about the prices for hotels and food. Find out what tourists think of their holiday in Chakvi.

Resort experience

A large urban-type settlement is located 17 km north of Batumi. Chakvi stretches along the valley of the river of the same name and along the sea to Buknari. We were amazed by the sheer number of tiles. Not only sidewalks, but also courtyards are lined with colorful tiles in Chakvi.

The main shops and market are located in the center. An old eucalyptus grove grows near the shore. Giant trees exude a surprisingly pleasant aroma. Wonderful Georgian cows remind you that you are in the village. They slowly cross the road right among the cars and enjoy sunbathing on the beach.

Nadezhda: "Chakvi is an excellent place to relax on the Black Sea coast of Georgia. It is very calm and picturesque, with a clean sea and a pebbly uncrowded beach. In 15 minutes you can reach Batumi by public transport or taxi."

What sea and beaches

Sea water in Chakvi is cleaner than in Batumi. The beach is pebbly and long. You put on aqua shoes and calmly enter the water. The depth begins about five meters from the coast. There are never so many vacationers in Chakvi as in Batumi, however, the beach infrastructure is inferior to the main seaside resort in Georgia. Changing rooms and sun loungers still need to be searched!

Lenutsa: "The beach is wide, there are few people, no crowding. There are pebbles on the beach, it is much smaller than in Batumi, so it is more convenient to enter the water than there. There are umbrellas and sun loungers, but for a small fee. However, without them it is quite you can do it by spreading a towel on the pebbles. And if you are afraid of the sun, you can sunbathe in the shade of the pine trees - they are also practically on the beach, everything is nearby. "

Hotels in Chakvi

There are about fifty guest houses and hotels in the resort village. Near the sea, on almost every house you can see an ad "rooms for rent". Prices in Chakvi are slightly lower than in Batumi. A double room with a private bathroom in a guest house costs 1100-1200 rubles per day, in a 3 * hotel - 2000-2500 rubles, and in a 4 * hotel - from 3500 rubles. All-inclusive vacations in Chakvi are offered at the Dreamland Oasis hotel, a double room costs 11,000 rubles. Look for hotels in Chakvi on Hotelluk, the best according to tourist reviews:

  • HOLA CHAQVI - from 989 ₽ / day
  • Wonderland - from 1239 ₽ / day
  • Tacos - from 2455 ₽ / day.

Food prices

Compared to Batumi, there are few cafes and restaurants in Chakvi, but you will always find where to eat and drink delicious coffee. We loved the food and the neat bamboo benches at the Mimino Cafe Restaurant. The average bill for two in an institution for locals is 25 GEL. We advise you to try the famous Georgian kebab for 8-12 GEL and Adjarian khachapuri for 7-12 GEL. If you prefer vegetarian food, try eggplant with nuts - 4-6 GEL and mushrooms on ketsi - 8 GEL.

What to see and do

There is little entertainment in Chakvi. In 2018, a small water park was opened at the Dreamland Oasis hotel, where not only guests, but also everyone who wants to relax. Admission for adults and children over 12 years old costs 40 GEL. Among vacationers, boat trips and fishing in the sea are popular.

According to reviews, from Chakvi tourists willingly go on excursions in the mountainous Adjara, to the national parks "Mtirala", "Kintrishi" and "Kolkheti". Tours for one day cost from $ 30. It is easy to get by minibuses to the Byzantine fortress of Petra, Batumi, Kobuleti and Poti.

  • What to see in Batumi
  • Where to go from Batumi

We advise you to see the plantations of Georgian tea, which are located on the eastern outskirts of Chakvi - Chaisubani. Also, it is only 1.1 km from the village to the northern entrance to the Batumi Botanical Garden. A ticket for foreign tourists costs 15 GEL. The green area is so beautiful that you won't regret the money spent!

Samsonata: "An excellent vacation without fuss, but close to Batumi. A walk in the Mtirala reserve, trips to waterfalls, to the Gonio fortress or shopping in Turkey is not a problem. The botanical garden, where you can spend the whole day, is right next to you." ...

Jenya09: "We visited the Botanical Garden 5 times, if not more. We tried to do it at different times of the year to see how different bushes and trees bloom. Every time we admire its beauty. The park is very large, I recommend planning a whole day for visiting." ...

Vacation with children

Chakvi is a good place to have a rest with children! The village has clean air, the sea is better than in Batumi, and there is no such amount of temptations as in a big city. The settlement is quite large - 10 thousand people live in Chakvi. When choosing a hotel, specify how far to go to the beach.

Yuri: "A cozy place, conducive to rest. We stayed with a family, all my household liked it here. Clean, palm trees, warm, after the endless Russian rains, it's a kind of paradise."

When is the best time to go

In Chakvi, it is reasonable to rest in the summer, when you can swim in the Black Sea. In the off-season, the village is boring. The beach season in Georgia starts at the end of May and ends at the end of October. The hottest months are July, August and the first half of September. If you can't stand the summer heat, come to Chakvi in June or during the velvet season!

Is it worth going

Chakvi is a great place to relax on the seashore in Georgia! The village has shops, a market, pharmacies. Public transport is well developed - by minibus to Batumi, only 20 minutes away. In our opinion, Chakvi is suitable not only for families with children and elderly tourists, but also for everyone who loves active travel. From here it is convenient to get to many sights of Adjara.
