Until 1995, the village on the Black Sea coast was part of the border zone, and it was possible to enter here only with passes. Now Kvariati is a popular seaside resort in Georgia. I am telling you whether it is comfortable to rest here, and what are the prices in 2021.

Resort experience

Kvariati is located on both banks of the river of the same name, 15 km south of Batumi. The village is small - a minibus passes it in a couple of minutes. A modern seaside resort with 3-5 * hotels is surrounded by picturesque green mountains. Some of the accommodation is located at the bottom of the sea, and some hotels are on the side of the mountain. We were in one such "upper" hotel. The views from there are amazing!

According to reviews, rest in Kvariati is popular with diving enthusiasts. The sea is quite clean here, and the depth begins not far from the coast. There is a diving center on the shore, where you can get training and receive an international PADI certificate.

See how tourists say about their vacation in Kvariati:

Zagruk: "I was on vacation with my family at this resort, I really liked it. Big beach, beautiful views, sea! For its price, it's just paradise, I advise everyone."

Denis: "Kvariati is a wonderful place. We managed to stay here for only a couple of days, but even during this period of time we realized that we want to return here at least next year. Everything here is amazing."

What sea and beaches

The sea in Kvariati is cleaner than in Batumi. During the season, the pebble beach is cleaned, so there is no garbage there. For vacationers, cafes and bars are open, there are small inflatable slides for children, changing rooms and showers.

Anna: "Compared to Batumi, the beach is narrower, from one end the track is close. On the plus side, there are almost no people in the off-season, it is clean, calm, the water is clear. The beach is pebble. If you choose between Sarpi and Kvariati, I like Kvariati more."

Svetlana: "This is perhaps one of the most successful beaches in the suburbs of Batumi. It is pebbly, but very well-groomed. The water there is cleaner, the mountains are very close to the sea, so the air is simply amazing, it is very saving in the heat."

Hotels in Kvariati

Prices for hotels in Batumi and Kvariati in 2021 are almost the same. In high season, a double room in a guest house costs 800-1000 rubles per day, in a 3 * hotel with a swimming pool - 2200-2800 rubles, and in a 5 * hotel - 3100 rubles. We did not find any "all inclusive" offers. If you want to do without tedious descents and ascents, rent a house below, not on the slopes of the mountain! Look for hotels in Kvariati na Hotelluk, the best according to tourist reviews:

  • Temo's guest house - from 742 ₽ / day
  • Hotel Zura Palace - from 1978 ₽ / day
  • Calypso Kvariati Inn - from 3709 ₽ / day.

Food prices

Food prices in Kvariati are the same as throughout Georgia - low. For a lunch for two without alcohol, you will pay 20-25 GEL. We loved the cozy atmosphere and delicious food at Frida Beach Cafe. The portions in Georgia are large, do not rush to order a lot!

JuliBook: "The cost of the dishes is very democratic: kubdari (with meat) - 10 GEL, lula kebab - 11 GEL, chikhirtma - 8 GEL, Adjarian khachapuri - 7 GEL, a glass of homemade Georgian wine - 5 GEL".

What to see and do

There are no attractions and entertainment in Kvariati itself, so tourists willingly go on excursions to interesting places in Georgia. According to reviews, one-day tours to the Makhuntseti waterfall, the Mtirala national park and mountainous Adjara are popular. Prices start at $ 30.

You shouldn't take all the excursions in a row! There are minibuses and buses to Batumi, so it is easy to get to the resort town and Batumi Botanical Garden by yourself. In the neighboring village of Gonio, we advise you to look at the Roman fortress. The entrance to it costs 10 GEL. Go on foot to the waterfall of St. Andrew! It is just over 1 km from the southern border of the village to the picturesque sight.

Victor and Alina Pashinskiy: "The waterfall of St. Andrew the First-Called, in our opinion, is quite beautiful, but still very inferior to the waterfall of Makhuntseti, which we visited next. The statues in honor of the saint, made in an unusual style, seemed interesting."

Vacation with children

According to the reviews of tourists, families with children like holidays in Kvariati. Especially good on the seashore with babies. Everything is at hand! The beach is easily accessible on foot from the hotel. There are shops, vegetable and fruit shops in the village, and resort goods - swimwear, inflatable rings and children's toys - are sold near the sea. True, for entertainment, such as a water park, attractions and museums, you have to go to Batumi.

Anastasia: "We had a rest at the" Sunset Kvariati "apart-hotel. The apartment is simply gorgeous, four of us came - with my husband and children. The room had air conditioning, comfortable beds and cleanliness. I liked it very much, we recommend it to everyone."

When is the best time to go

Kvariati is a beach holiday village, so most of the year its hotels are empty. The swimming season starts in late May - early June, and the sea remains warm until the end of October. Due to the subtropical climate, all Georgian resorts have high humidity, in July and August it is quite hot. If you can't stand the summer heat, come to the resort in June or the first half of autumn.

Is it worth going

Holidays in Kvariati in 2021 have many advantages. Compared to Batumi, the sea is cleaner here, and there is not a large flow of tourists. The entertainment of Batumi is just 20 minutes by minibus or bus. The hotels, which are located on the slopes of the mountain, offer wonderful views of the coast. Watch the sunset right from your room!

The main disadvantage of Kvariati is that it is a small village. All attractions have to be reached by public transport or taxi.
