The most popular in Sochi, the Agursky waterfalls do not evoke strong emotions, but they are quite suitable for a pleasant walk. The shady cool gorge will appeal to those who are tired of the heat on the coast and want to swim in the lake under the waterfall.

Agursky Waterfalls is a 2.5 km long route very popular among tourists. However, the gorge did not make a great impression on us. Yes, quite beautiful, quite interesting, but no more. If you have been to the Mokry Psakho Canyon or the Svirsky Gorge, you will hardly be impressed by these waterfalls. However, for a pleasant hike through the forests and mountains, the route is quite suitable! Let me tell you what the route to the waterfalls looks like.

Route to Agursky waterfalls

At first, the path is wide and well-trodden; it is easy and pleasant to walk along it. You will go to the most beautiful beginning of the canyon - the Devil's font. By the way, this is the most ancient trail, it was laid already in 1911 by enthusiasts of the mountain club.

Then the path, carved into the rock, begins to twist and a slope appears. And now - an observation deck to the first Agursky waterfall. It is 30 meters high and consists of two cascades. After a long drought, there was little water in the waterfall, but in spring it is beautiful here.

Further - the second waterfall 21 meters high, it is multi-jet and flows down the stones. We did not see the third waterfall 23 meters high due to the drought.

At the very top, above the third waterfall, quaint baths, undulating limestone bends and cascades of micro-waterfalls await you. Further, the Agura river becomes calm and flat.

At the top of the route there are two forks: to the right - to Mount Akhun, to the left - to Eagle Rocks and Matsesta, from where you can return to the hotel by bus (about 8 km).

Route "Agurskie waterfalls + Eagle rocks"

And so it was possible, you ask. Need to! If you like hiking and are not afraid of difficulties, we advise you to combine Agursky waterfalls with Eagle Rocks - we did just that. You need to start from the rocks, not from the waterfalls. So you will spend less energy on the ascent and see two beautiful places at once, but pay only for one.

Both trails connect on the Agura River, above the third waterfall. The whole journey will take about 8 km (4-5 hours). The disadvantage of this trip is that you will have to travel by public transport, because the route does not end up looping. That is, you will start your journey in Old Matsesta, climb on foot to the Eagle Rocks (you can cheat and hire a taxi to the rocks), go down to Agura and walk down past the waterfalls, leaving at New Matsesta. Helpful information

  • The entrance to the reserve costs 200 rubles.
  • You can eat in the restaurant at the entrance to the trail; there are also paid toilets there.
  • In general, any healthy person with minimal physical training will walk the path.
  • There are many sightseeing tourists in the summer, so do not expect complete seclusion. Even in October, we met people all the time.
  • It is most beautiful here in spring and after rains.
  • The waterfalls are humid and sometimes cool, bring a thin jacket or windbreaker. It is better to wear non-slip shoes. We had trekking shoes, but regular ones will do.
