Ticket prices

There are no direct flights yet - with the exception of charter flights. All with one or two transfers: in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and other cities. Tickets from Moscow cost from 20 thousand rubles round trip - this is the lowest price. On average, air tickets cost 30-40 thousand rubles.

Our experience... We flew to Phu Quoc not from Russia, but from Thailand after a vacation in Phuket and Pattaya. First, we flew to Ho Chi Minh City, and from there we flew to Fukuoka with a VietJet low-cost airline. We recommend getting to the island from Saigon only by air! The journey along land and water will take almost a day and will be very tiring, and the difference in price is not very large. Our flights cost $ 37 per person plus $ 7 for luggage.

Long Beach in Fukuoka has the most developed infrastructure. All life and most of the hotels are concentrated in the north near the city of Duong Dong and in the center of the beach. There are also hotels in the south of the beach, but these are mostly expensive resorts, in the vicinity of which there is a deserted area and a global construction is underway. There you feel like in a post-apocalyptic film: huge spaces, empty unfinished hotels and not a single person.

If it is important for you to have a choice, settle in the north and in the center: there are many restaurants and cafes, there is a night market and shops, in general - life.

Fukuoka Food Prices - 2021

They are higher than on the mainland: ordinary Vietnamese dishes (rice or noodles with meat) in a cafe cost from 60,000 VND, seafood dishes - from 80,000 VND. When we arrived in Mui Ne after Fukuoka, everything seemed unusually cheap. It's hard not to order seafood rice when it costs VND 30,000!

The cheapest places to eat in the tourist area are cafes for locals and Duong Dong. Fruit is inexpensive and widely sold. The night market is open after sunset.

How to get around in Fukuoka?

There are buses, but they rarely run. We, like all tourists, rented a bike and used a taxi - this is the most convenient thing.

You can find a bike on the street along Long Beach for 150,000 VND. Almost every hotel offers to rent an iron horse.

Transportation to the airport. We advise you to take a taxi - 13,000 VND per km. From the airport to the tourist area, according to the counter, it is approximately 120-150,000 VND, to Duong Dong - from 150,000 VND. Take a taxi by the meter - cheaper. Some hotels offer a free shuttle service.

They write on the Internet about the mythical shuttle bus from JetStar for VND 50,000, but we never found it at the airport. But in the city they saw him standing alone in a vacant lot.

Shopping

Shopping on Phu Quoc Island is so-so. What can you buy here? Pearls, souvenirs, some clothes.

Pearls are available both in the night market and in specialized stores (including pearl farms). Prices for pearls in Fukuoka: on the market a string costs 250-600,000 VND, pendants - 150-200,000 VND, bracelets - 50-200,000 VND. Tourists are advised to buy in company stores.

Standard souvenirs: plates, lacquer boxes, fans, figurines, masks, hats, scarves. Prices were not specified.

There are clothes on the market, but few: T-shirts, blouses, shoes, shorts. In shops in Duong Dong, men's denim shorts can be purchased for VND 200,000, and for women - from VND 250,000.

However, a trip to Phu Quoc may be cheaper than we calculated. To do this, you need to live in a guesthouse ($ 9 per day for two) and refuse paid excursions, renting only a bike and seeing the sights on your own.

Our expenses

We rested in Fukuoka for three weeks in winter and celebrated the New Year on the island. They lived in different places: in a cheap guesthouse in Duong Dong for $ 9 per day, in a hotel for $ 25 and three resorts for $ 25-40 per day on Long Beach. We ate both in local establishments and in tourist cafes. We bought fruit every day. We rented a bike for three days and independently traveled around all the beaches and attractions of the island, we did not buy excursions.
